Dorothy Burton is the Founder and President of Christians In Public Service (CIPS), a Texas-based nonprofit dedicated to forming and supporting leaders who serve in public life with integrity, wisdom, and faith.
A former four-term City Council representative in Duncanville, Texas, Dorothy understands firsthand the pressures, complexities, and ethical challenges faced by those who lead and govern. Her work today is shaped by decades of experience in public leadership, civic responsibility, and faith-based service.
Dorothy holds a Master of Arts in Christian Leadership from Dallas Theological Seminary, a Master of Arts in Urban Affairs from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.
Her work focuses on the intersection of power, politics, and faith, exploring how leadership decisions shape communities and how character shapes leadership. She is known for addressing difficult issues with clarity and conviction while avoiding ideological extremes and performative religion.
Through teaching, writing, and public commentary, Dorothy equips leaders to navigate complex civic environments while remaining grounded in Scripture, conscience, and character.
