Dorothy Burton is the founder of Christ-Followers in Public Service (CIPS), a Texas-based nonprofit committed to forming and supporting leaders who serve in public life with integrity, wisdom, and faith.
A former four-term city council representative, Dorothy understands firsthand the pressures, complexities, and ethical challenges faced by public leaders. She holds a Master of Arts in Christian Leadership from Dallas Theological Seminary, a Master of Arts in Urban Affairs from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.
Dorothy’s work focuses on biblical leadership, ethical discernment, and the intersection of faith and public life. She is widely recognized for her ability to name hard truths without resorting to ideology, partisanship, or performative religion.
Through her teaching, writing, and public commentary, Dorothy equips leaders to navigate increasingly complex civic environments while remaining grounded in Scripture, conscience, and character.
JESUS160: The Way He Led Will Change How You Lead is a leadership work drawn from the Gospels, exploring 160 leadership characteristics modeled by Jesus. Written for those who lead in complex and demanding environments, the book invites readers to consider leadership as formation of character, not pursuit of power.
