Dr. Ron Anderson believed that leadership was measured by whom you were willing to serve.
For more than four decades, he devoted his life to expanding access to quality health care, especially for people who were poor, vulnerable, or too easily overlooked. His leadership helped shape Parkland Health and Hospital System into one of the nation’s most respected public health institutions.
But those who knew Dr. Anderson understood that his legacy was larger than an institution.
He was a man of deep faith, conviction, compassion, courage, and uncommon humility. He believed serving people was an expression of serving Christ, and he carried that belief into the way he led, made decisions, treated people, and used his influence.
Dr. Anderson was also instrumental in the founding of Christians In Public Service. His example helped establish an early conviction that remains central to CIPS today: character matters, service matters, and how we carry responsibility matters.
