"Discovering who we are as leaders in light of who Jesus is as Lord."
Life and leadership through the lens of the greatest leadership book ever written—the Bible. By connecting the timeless principles of Scripture to the challenges of today, Governing God’s Way reveals that there is truly nothing new under the sun. The same forces that shaped the lives and leadership of biblical figures continue to influence us now. This podcast draws wisdom from the past to empower us in the present, equipping us to serve, lead, govern, and live victoriously.
The "Scottsboro Boys" were nine teenage boys, the youngest just 13, falsely accused of raping two white women on a railroad car in 1931. Despite their innocence, they collectively spent 130 years in Alabama jails and prisons. Folk singer Huddie Ledbetter, famously known as "Lead Belly," brought attention to their plight in his 1938 song, The Scottsboro Boys, where he coined the phrase "best stay woke — be on the alert." This expression became a rallying cry, rooted in vigilance and awareness, and its legacy endures today.
This podcast reclaims the phrase, deeply embedded in African American history and scripture (1 Peter 5:8: "Be alert"), to examine the American experience and current events through the lens of biblical truth and lived realities.
